Joel Rodriguez is a known social activist who advocates for agrarian reform and rural development. He was a former political detainee under the Marcos regime; after he was released from prison, he worked for five years with the peasant group, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas.
He worked as the Executive Director of MODE, an NGO advocating for agrarian development and farmers’ issues. After this stint with the said organization, he occupied various managerial posts with Oxfam GB in a span of nine years, and is currently Programme Manager for Oxfam in Azerbaijan.
Oxfam is an international charity that works to fight poverty and empower individuals around the world.
