Edwin Nakpil is the chairperson of Kasama Pilipinas (Kalipunan ng mga Samahang Maralita sa bansang Pilipinas), an urban poor community organization advocating for housing and urban poor rights. He was one of the leaders of the supporters of ex-President Joseph Estrada, who were allegedly responsible for starting the uprising popularly known as EDSA Tres.
Nakpil has been actively involved in urban poor organizing and is now the Convenor of the North Triangle Coalition, a group composed of several residents’ associations in Sitio San Roque II, Barangay Bagong Pag-asa in Quezon City. The North Triangle Coalition is resisting the relocation of community members as well as the transformation of North Triangle into a commercial hub.
